County of Brant Homeownership Program

In partnership with the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, the City of Brantford and the County of Brant, the B-Home Program has been developed to assist low to moderate income earners realize the dream of owning their first home.

The purpose of the B-home Homeownership Program is to:

  • Make first time home ownership a reality for low to moderate income households in Brantford/Brant
  • Ease the demand for rental housing by assisting renter households to buy affordable houses
  • Offer down payment assistance for homebuyers through a 5% forgivable loan to a maximum of $17,500

Eligibility of Applicants:

  • Must be 18-years or older.
  • Must be a first time home buyer.
  • Not own or have an interest in other residential properties or owe arrears/damages to another housing program.
  • Must be currently renting in Brantford or Brant County, and also looking to purchase a home within Brantford or Brant County.
  • Household income before deductions less than $88,400* and assets must not exceed $30,000.

Eligibility of the property:

  • New units including conversions from non residential.
  • Resale homes, home inspection must be undertaken and paid for by the purchaser.

Conditions for Repayment

  • No repayment of the loan if home is sold after 20 years.
  • If the home is sold before 20 year period expires, you must repay the original loan plus
    5% of the capital appreciation

How to Apply

  • Mortgage Pre-Approval – Please contact a mortgage broker, trust company, credit
    union, bank or other qualified lender of your choice to apply for a no cost mortgage
    pre-approval.
